My Diet Stopped Working. Time for change.
We get to this point on a health journey don’t we? Where the weight just stops coming off. At the beginning the weight just drops like crazy, then all of sudden, it stops. What was working before just does not work anymore. It is demoralizing, it makes you feel awful and all you can think is: “what the HELL am I doing wrong?”
Well that’s been me since January 2020. YEP! I really haven’t lost 1 pound since January. Isn’t that nuts? I exercise 30-60 minutes a day, 6-7 times a week, and eat healthy Monday-Thursday, I cheat on the weekends. So, I had to really pause and think about what was going on with me. Was I being honest with myself.
Here is the freaking truth. I was not being honest with myself. I am eating way to much, and I am eating way to many of the wrong things from Friday to Sunday. THAT IS ALMOST HALF THE WEEK!! Don’t fool yourself like I am fooling myself. Learn from my mistakes.
I always say this, “but here is the good news:”
I haven’t lost weight in a very long time, but I have not thrown in the towel. I know this is my new lifestyle and this makes me happy.
I have identified the problem, so now I can start working on it.
I already know I need to stop seeing the weekend as my time to indulge. The weekend needs to stop being the time for wine, the time for treats and the team to just let loose. I don’t know if this makes sense, but I think I need to stop depriving myself through out the week, so that when the weekend rolls around I don’t go “gang busters”, does that make sense?
Here is where WW comes in for me.
I have done WW before, and it is truly a great program that teaches you balance. If I want a slice of pizza on Wednesday, I can have a slice of pizza on Wednesday, I don’t need to wait till Friday. The program has a point system that accounts for a nice balance every day. NOT just the weekends.
If you go out on Friday, there is a weekly point allocation that will account for that extra glass of wine. I really like that.
BUT, here is why I signed up. It teaches you that 2 glasses of wine and a small bowl of chips on a Friday night is fine. No problem. But, it is not fine 3 days a week, because then you would be outside your point budget. It teaches you to not wait to try and spend all your points in one day, because then you feel deprived towards the end of the week, and then you just throw in the towel and eat EVERYTHING and stop tracking.
Everyone has to do what works for them, but I know I am at a stand still. I know I need to redefine my relationship with food. So I am trying WW. My mind is ready for change, my body needs the change, so I am all in!
Leave me a comment, and tell me if you have tried a program that has helped you with balance? Let’s share what has worked, who knows maybe it will be your comment that helps someone else figure this out. It’s now an easy journey we are on, so let’s help and support each other along the way.
